Case Study: No One Wants to Work with Her

09:04:18 GMT -05:00

, Dealing with emotions is an even harder thing to learn when life is already difficult. But

in order to succeed, as in life, one must acquire the knowledge and abilities to control those

feelings. Jenny in this instance most likely has low emotional intelligence and social anxiety.

This could result in problems that could be improved, such as relationship management, self-

management, and self-awareness problems. Jenny will be able to modify her outlook on life and

how her coworkers see her with the support of her management team and a little work.

To enhance Jenny's EQ, or emotional intelligence, she must raise her level of self-

awareness. It will be easier to understand why she feels the way she does if you know how the

environment around her causes her to experience particular emotions. She would be able to find

solutions or workarounds to get around her poor self-management by identifying the triggers of

her emotions, which would lessen the amount of stress that might be influencing her decision-

making (Mayo Clinic, 2021). Jenny will be able to communicate with her peers and the outside

world more effectively if she can control her emotions.

The first step in managing negative emotions at work would be to try to figure out why

those emotions are occurring. Jenny believes that even though she does a good job at her job, she

does not care about the people around her. Jenny might not be aware that her actions are hurting

anyone, so management should talk to her to better understand her motivations. Discuss with her

how her peers perceive her behavior and work toward a resolution. Once the cause has been

identified, management can devise strategies to help mitigate the effects, such as providing

training on appropriate communication or improving body language comprehension.
