INTERVIEW KAISER WITH COMPLETE SOLUTIONS (A+
GRADED LATEST UPDATE)
Tell me about yourself: I'm a recent graduate of San Jose state, where I concurrently
pursued a degree in both nursing and biological sciences. What initially made me want
to continue with nursing after being accepted into the program was loving the patient
interaction that I got within the nursing clinical setting. Because of the strong bonds
developed with the patients and their families while working closely together in this
significant life event, I have a particular interest in maternal-newborn health and labor
and delivery. - My background has thus focused on getting ready to be a great L&D RN.
Specifically
- I'm anxious to proceed on this track, and I believe everything I do until now has so far
prepared me for this post.
-
How do you prioritize? - Answer -scout and gather as much information as possible
about the various tasks at hand
-
For example, I assess level of difficulty, when the deadlines are, whether or not similar
tasks can be grouped together
- Using this information, I create a plan and prepare myself to deal with the situation and
get things done more efficiently and in a timely manner.
- Example
Clinically, I once had the opportunity to be involved in managing four observation rooms
that were utilized to triage patients. For me, the situation was overwhelming because
until that experience, I had grown accustomed to seeing about 2 patients per night. On
this night, however, patients were being discharged, admitted, and seen at such a rapid
pace that I had difficulty trying to keep track of, and manage, all information.
-- How I dealt with it was first I kept my cool so as not to stress pregnant moms, who can
probably get stressed out easily, and then assessed how I could get things done
efficiently so as not to stress me out even more.
For instance, I tried working as quickly and efficiently as possible. This included things
like charting immediately instead of waiting till I finished everything to chart. I did group
similar tasks and also collaborated with my preceptor in the division of tasks. I also
asked my preceptor for tips during our break. Definitely, I tested my prioritization and
, time management from that experience. I was only grateful that I had managed to get
through that night without an accident. What are your strengths? Response My strength
is that I am adaptable, an effective team player, and diligence in accomplishing goals.
My main strength is concentration and perseverance in the successful execution of
whatever goals that I have set before me.
To explain a bit better, some of the personal goals I have maintained and believe to be
among my great successes pertain to an efficient balance between my professional and
personal life along with the successful execution of my dual majors and dual minors.
It was something definitely challenging and taking a lot of discipline; I was met with a
variety of challenges, and I also faced discouragement from authoritative figures.
Ex-nurse advisor continuously pressed me to drop my second major, telling me I
couldn't do it. But through focus, persistence, and maintaining a positive attitude in
spite of these trials, I was able to complete both my majors and graduate with honors.
What are your weaknesses? -Answer-I overthink things, especially when learning
something new; I really want to get it just right, so I'll spend too much time thinking
about it in my head. There were times this hindered the quickness and efficiency that so
many situations required.
-For instance, CLINICAL EXAMPLE: I had a patient during my preceptorship that came in
with a precipitous delivery and when everyone who was available, including myself,
came in to assist with the delivery, but since everything that i had learned was
happening in fast forward, and i because i was too busy thinking "Ok whats my priority,
what needs to be done" as opposed to of actually doing something, I made little
contribution the team effort as i should have and would have wanted to.
- however from this experience I was able to improve other emergency situations where
I i make the effort and What are your career goals? -Answer-I know I want to be in a
position or where I am promoting women's health more specifically, promoting a healthy
pregnancy outcome. Therefore, my short-term goal would be to work for a hospital such
as this where I can learn and function effectively as part of a team of members that are
also dedicated to optimizing women's health.
My long-time goals would include expanding my education by obtaining an advanced
degree focusing on woman's health and applying knowledge and years of experience
earned to advance within the discipline.
I am not entirely certain as to which program I would want to pursue specifically, but I
assume that in time-working and being in the field-I will know what best fits me and can
be most beneficial to the facility I work for.
