Why Dentistry? - answerVariety of reasons/factors:

After getting to know diff professions through volunteer/work, i realized my desire

- to work with my hands in creative environment, dentistry would be the best fit for me.
Even now, working as a dental assistant and being able to assist in
- dental procedures is really fascinating to me, because i get to observe and tend to the
patients after the procedure as well. Additionally, I love that i'll have the
- continuity of care as soon as I start practicing - establishing relationship with my
patients and getting to know them as their provider and confidante.

- GRANDMA

Strengths? - answerCompassionate (GMB, other community outreach);

Cultural competence (traveled to other countries whether for leisure/internships abroad);

Team player (as a leader, need to be team player - knowing when to step down to allow
better xc of ideas - as VP of GMB - invite feedback from gen members to modulate our
behaviors and actions)

Strong work ethic - perseverance

, - leader (elected team leader/mgr for many projs at KGI)

- goal oriented/perseverance (checklist person, writing down goals, checking them off -
persevere towards my goals - overcoming UCSD adversity)

Weaknesses? - answerTaking on too many projs at once (learned my limitations and
learned to balance)

Sometimes, I spend more time than necessary on a task or take on tasks personally
that could easily be delegated to someone else. Although I've never missed a deadline,
it is still an effort for me to know when to move on to the next task, and to be confident
when assigning others work. (GMB Info sess video)

- Very hard on myself - and hard on others when they dont meet certain expectations

Why residency? - answer- rapid advancements in dentistry
- need additional training and experience prior to going into practice!

What does success mean to you? - answer- To do what i love everyday/making a
difference in lives
- have time for family and service oriented opportunities
- at liberty to help others reach their goals

Would you pick NYU over CA schools? - answer- strong clinical and didactic instruction
- group practice experience
- abundance of opportunities and resources (spoke to several current students about
their experiences - Adeena Chefitz, Rebecca Harary, Muhammed Saif, etc.)
- NYU is unique from many other CA schools bc faculty and curriculum really
emphasize integration of clinical, community outreach, and IPE.
- also emphasize critical thinking skills to supplement our technical knowledge of
procedures
- love - NYU faculty and student of the month - warm, friendly, uplifting environment!
(immediately got a sense of that through talking to current students too D2s and D4)
- i love the diversity and exposure to international students - much to learn from one
another
- I really liked NYU and how its size gives you the opportunity to pursue any of your
particular interests, be they research, outreach, specialties, etc.

Hardest thing you dealt with in undergrad? - answer*family issues that required me to
travel home quite often

How did you overcome it? - answer- open channel of communication with parents or all
parties involved
