-Member of the athletic team's coaching, communications, equipment, or sports medicine staff

-Member of a band or cheerleading squad

-Team's mascot




If a person is contracted/employed with an athletic team and traveling with the team, the person
CANNOT: ✔✔-Provide PT at a healthcare facility

-Provide PT for more than 60 days in a calendar year

, No person shall practice PT unless on prescription of, referral of a patient by a person who is licensed to:
✔✔-Practice medicine and surgery, chiropractic, dentistry, osteopathic medicine and surgery, podiatric
medicine and surgery

-Practice as a PA

-Practice nursing as an advanced practice RN




To practice PT without a prescription of, or referral of a patient the person must: ✔✔-Hold a master's
or doctorate degree from a professional PT program accredited by a national PT accreditation agency

-On or before Dec 31st 2004, person has completed at least 2 years of practical experience as a licensed
PT.




Practice without a referral: ✔✔-PT evaluates and treats patient

-PT shall, with consent of patient, inform the relevant person of the eval not later than 5 business days
after eval made

-If PT determines no progress has been made in 30 days immediately following eval, PT shall consult
with relevant person

-UNLESS: eval, tx, or services are provided for fitness, wellness, or prevention purposes

-Pt previously diagnosed with chronic, neuromuscular, or development conditions and services are being
provided for problems or Sx associated with condition




Tx without referral: PT is limited to these orthotics: ✔✔-Upper extremity adaptive equipment

-Finger splints

-Wrist splints

-Prefabricated elastic or fabric abd brace with or without metal or plastic reinforcing stays
