1. Great Migration: During and after World War One, a large amount of southern blacks

migrated to the North, because jobs became available during the labor shortages. There

were higher wage factories, even though most did have of them had unskilled positions.

But there were more reasons for the migration, such as, education for their children,

escaping the risk of getting killed, and the possibility of gaining the right to vote. “The

black migrants, mostly young men and women, carried with them “a new vision of

opportunity, of social and economic freedom”. (Foner, Eric. “America’s Gilded Age,

1870-1890” Give Me Liberty!, Brief Sixth Edition pg. 595).

2. Battle of Little Bighorn: This was one of the most famous battles of Great Sioux War. It

took place in June 1876, in Montana Territory, between the U.S Calvary, led by

Lieutenant Colonel George Armstrong Custer and Sioux with help from Cheyenne

warriors, led by Sitting Bull and Crazy Horse. Sioux and Cheyenne were fighting to

defend tribal land in the Black Hills of the Dakota Territory. The two working together,

outnumbered, and assassinated General George A. Custer and all 250 of his men.

3. Sacco and Vanzetti: Nicola Sacco, and Bartolomeo Vanzetti were two Italian immigrants

accused in a robbery in South Massachusetts. These two men “…were anarchists who

dreamed of a society in which government, churches, and private property would. Be

abolished.” (Foner, Eric. “From Business Culture to Great Depression” Give Me Liberty!
