Introduction
, I would like to bring esports to my school, Collins-Rhodes Elementary. Electronic sports
(eSports) are organized video game competitions. I believe that this educational technology
would be a great resource for our students academically and behaviorally. Basic math and data
analysis skills help eSports competitors find out where they may have made a blunder in a
match. eSports competitors need to consider their opponents’ moves and try to figure out their
overall strategy while adjusting their own moves to counter and succeed. eSports can motivate
our learners to become future programmers or hardware designers for computers.
There will be many additional benefits that will come along with implementing eSports
in our elementary school. A successful esports team focuses on teamwork and communication.
Similarly, to any sports team, learners need to understand their team members’ skill sets. Our
learners will learn how to work together to complement each other’s abilities during
competitions. A competitive eSports team helps students take their gaming to the next level,
learning leadership, sportsmanship, and communication skills as they play. The eSports project
will impact the principal, teachers, parents, students, and the community of gamers.
Tournaments and peer connections are significant parts of academic eSports. Students
compete alongside their team members in tournaments both virtually and in-person, with
students from schools as close as the same district and as far as the other side of the world.
eSports tournaments bring students from different backgrounds and cultures together through
their shared interest in gaming. Gaming in eSports can lead to enhanced visual perception,
improved memory, and better attention and focus. These skills are not only helpful to learners in
their gaming, but can also have a beneficial effect on student well-being and academic
performance. Being a part of an eSports team can improve our learner’s time management and
task completion in school.
