agency 4729 of the administrative code, accepting new verbal prescription orders for
non-controlled drugs pursuant to the following:
- Pharmacist on duty will determine if the technician is competent to receive a verbal
order.
-Pharmacist on duty is responsible for the accuracy of a prescription order received by a
technician.
-Pharmacist must be immediately available to answer question or discuss the
prescription order received by the CPhT.
-CPhT may NOT receive a prescription order for a controlled substance.
-The CPhT receiving a prescription order must document the fll name of the prescriber's
agent, if applicable.
-CPhT must immediately transfer the prescription order to writing and review it with the
pharmacist.
-Prior to dispensing, positive identification of the receiving CPhT and the pharmacist
should be made on the prescription to identify the responsibility for the receipt of the
prescription.
-CPhT and pharmacist must meet all other applicable rules for the receipt of new verbal
prescription orders or the administrative code.
