Purpose and Perspective of the Chapter
Did you have an entrepreneurial spirit when you were younger? Perhaps you opened a lemonade stand
or babysat for families in your neighborhood. You most likely went into business without any plan and
then closed your business either when you became tired of it or it was time to go home for dinner.
Unfortunately, that approach doesn’t work very well when you become an adult and rely on your
business to support your lifestyle. You might not be the only one hoping for the success of your
business. Your employees will also rely on your business for their livelihood, and your customers may
need your products to run their own businesses.
It’s time to make plans for your business. Once it’s operating, you need to ensure that your business is
following your plan, adjust for problems you encounter, and make decisions that help your business
succeed. Managing the quality of your product and your company finances can put your business on the
path to success and keep it moving in the right direction.
