irreversible blockade nerve conduction when given intrathecally)
99m-Tc Pyrophosphate (PYP/Phosphotec) - ANSWER-can be used to tag RBCs for
blood pool imaging, resting nuclear ventriculography, and to assess GI bleeding and
hemangiomas
99m-Tc Sestamibi (MIBI/Cardiolite/MIRALUMA) - ANSWER-Used to assess myocardial
perfusion, localization of MI, left ventricular ejection fraction, ventricular wall motion,
coronary artery disease; can also be used for detecting hyperparathyroidism and
localization of breast CA
99m-Tc Succimer (DMSA) - ANSWER-Used to evaluate parenchymal disorders
including renal scarring; adult dose is 3-5mCi; pediatric 0.5mCi/kg
99m-Tc Sulfur Colloid (Pharmalucence) - ANSWER-evaluation of liver and spleen (1-
8mCi); bone marrow (3-12mCi); gastroesophageal motility (150-300uCi orally);
pulmonary aspiration (300-500uCi orally); LeVeen shunts (1-3mCi intraperitoneal),
lymphoscintigraphy (0.4-1mCi) and profuse GI bleeding (10mCi)
99m-Tc-Bicisate ECD (Neurolite) - ANSWER-can be used as an adjunct to MRI or CT
scanning to determine conditions of the brain; dose is 25mCi with a range of 15-30mCi
