TEACHER LANGUAGEThis part of the assignment is set to enable us to assess your language grading and concept checking.
You must use direct speech, e.g.'OK everyone, listen very carefully because I'm going to tell you what to do next.
On the wall there are pictures of 12 animals. On these orange cards (hold up a card) are the names of the
animals. I'll give everyone a card with some blu-tack (show back of card with a blob of blu-tack). Take your card
and stick it to the correct animal picture. Juan, what are you going to do with your orange card?'

TEACHER (T): So, today we are going to read the article titled “What made me the way I am?”. I would like
you to stay focused and keep attention now because I am going to introduce a vocabulary which is
necessary for correct understanding of the text. Make sure you note new items in your vocabulary books. Is
everyone ready to begin?
STUDENTS (Ss): Yes.

(T): Does anyone know what is the name of a school where you can live during school term?
Student (S): It’s a boarding school.
(T): Correct! A boarding-school is a school, where students have an option to study and live. Let’s have a
look on a slide with definition of a boarding school. Stress in a ‘boarding school’ is placed on the first
syllable, which means it is on boar. It is pronounced boarding school. Now, please, everyone repeats.
(Ss): Boarding school.
(T): Perfect! Does anyone have any questions?
(Ss): No.
(T): Fine. Let’s move to the next one.
Social exclusion
(T): Does anyone have an idea about what social exclusion means?
(S): When someone is not accepted by other people
(T): Good! Partly. Let’s explain it in more details. (teacher displays a PowerPoint slide with description of
Social exclusion) As you can see on the slide, social exclusion is an act of not including or denying access to
participate or benefit from the range of opportunities, resources or rights which are widely available to the
rest of particular social group. So, for example if majority of people has an access to healthcare but an
individual or a minor group of people is denied access to it, then we can talk about social exclusion. Does
everyone clearly understand the meaning?
(Ss): Yes!
(T): Wonderful. Stress in social exclusion is placed on second syllable of the word exclusion, which is “clu”. It
is pronounced social exclusion. Please, repeat together.
(Ss): Social exclusion.
