A. One thing that is often overlooked in the kitchen is the time it takes for water to
freeze. Usually, when people freeze water to make ice cubes, they often get caught up
in other tasks and end up not paying any mind to the time it actually takes for the
water to freeze. So, for this experiment I will find out how long it takes for the water
to freeze. Not only that, I will be comparing its freezing time to water with the
addition of salt. A freezing point is essentially the point in which a liquid transition
into a solid (Helmenstine, 2019). There is, however, two factors that can affect the
freezing point. Those two factors include temperature and purity of the water
(Papiewski, 2019). In order for water to be frozen it must get to at least 32°F
(Helmenstine, 2019). The purity factor can adjust the freezing point, in that, when a
soluble substance is mixed with the water, the freezing point drops (Papiewski, 2019).
With these articles, key information was presented. This information consisted of
defining the term “freezing point” and establishing two factors that affected the
freezing point: temperature and purity. Upon conducting this experiment, I will bear
in mind these factors.
