context
Introduction
The internet has been a huge tool in our society in nearly every area of the economy.
It is a huge asset to businesses in various ways and in this piece, I will be
concentrating on how it plays a role in marketing for businesses and how it helps
them grow as a business.
The modern marketing mix
Internet marketing has been a used in a various methods to grow the pieces of a
business and how they have improved individually and as a collective for the
business to see improvements, these include the 7 Ps being:
Product: products have been able to be improved dramatically in a lot of businesses
through the use of internet marketing. This has been achieved through tools being
used by the business to get feedback on their products from customers, secondary
research on how to improve the product and how to brand their product to make it
stand out from competitors.
Price: Price has also been easier to control for the businesses by using websites to
list and sell their products straight to customers mainly and losing the cost of have a
middleman selling the product for you, this is known as intermediation. It has also
given easy access for businesses to check the prices of competing products and
adjust their prices accordingly to that. An example of intermediation would be the
method of selling Dell use only selling products directly form their website.
Place: The internet has also allowed businesses the most appropriate places to
place their businesses and what locations to function and expand to. This is due to
demand numbers in specific areas being easier to track through the internet using its
technology such as data collection, this s known as demographic based
segmentation. It may also refer to the ability given to businesses to let their
business sell their products/services in the online market space.
Promotion: Promotion is a huge factor that has been affected by the internet as it has
made it a lot easier to advertise to customers and find which customers are most
likely to buy you product and directly advertise to them. This is done through the
platforms given to businesses through the internet and data collection.
People: The people in this context would be the individuals who sell a product for a
business. Their job has become a lot more productive as the internet has been
introduced this is because of the various communication methods it has allowed
such as through email, telemarketing, direct response TV (Commercials) and more.
This is known as Direct marketing communication.
Process: The process of business selling their products has also changed a lot due
to the internet. The main example of this being the introduction of click and collect
