Algemene eigenschappen van virussen:

Morfologie van virussen:
Virion = volwaardig infectieus virusdeeltje dat buiten de gastheer kristalliseerbaar is.
Capside (eiwithuls) bestaat uit capsomeren omhult genoom = nucleocapside.
Eenvoudige / naakte virussen:
Zonder enveloppe, vb.:
- TMV: tabaksmozaïekvirus staafvormig (holle buis) + RNA genoom
- Sferische virussen: poliomyelitis, adenovirus twintigvlak (icosahedron) + DNA genoom
Virussen met enveloppe:
Enveloppe: omringd nucleocapside, opgebouwd uit EW, KH en LIP. Bevat soms hemagglutinines en
enzymes. Delen van het membraan zijn afkomstig van gastheelcel.
