Application of Risk Management Techniques
1. YieldMore is a small agricultural company that has its headquarters in Indiana. The major
threat that is more prominent then the rest would be, the fact that they have all their
server in one main location. They should have their servers backed up in different
locations., For example if a fire were to break out or a tornado were to happen, all the
servers are in the same location, the company’s operations would take a significant hit.
2. I would suggest the company should have a disaster recovery plan in place, in case of fire
or weather. With having a DR location for its servers. Remote Access should be
implemented to the fullest. Using VPN connections which would in turn use tunneling
protocols to reduce the risk of data being hacked.
3. The DR site should be in a state location away from any major weather to
prevent data loss from any and all factors. A tunneling protocol will encrypt the
traffic sent over the network, this would make it more difficult for attackers to
capture and read data
4. Dear Sir or Ma’am
In reviewing the structure of your network infrastructure, I found the following,
that your three primary servers are all located in one central location without a
Disaster recover site in case of a mishap, this would not only be risky but also not
cost effective to the company.
Users must be trained in social engineering to reduce the risk of data being
compromised by unauthorized personnel.
I would also recommend that remote access privileges be scrutinized thoroughly
with the use of a VPN connections to reduce the risk of data being captured
when out of state representatives of the company are making connections to the
company network infrastructure
