Although, they focus on different information, they have the same goal which is to inform the

employee. As a human resources manager for an insurance company, I have been tasked to come

up with an employee orientation plan for the company. Below I will describe the plans for these

orientations and how it will effectively be executed.

The main reason for conduction an employee orientation is to inform. Orientation

provides a new employee with information that will make them more comfortable in the work

field. Orientations also improve employee retention, promotes communication, and creates a

good first impression. There is nothing like walking into a new job and you have no idea what

you are supposed to do. Orientations help eliminate this feeling because they give you this type

of information there. The most important benefit of conducting an employee organization is that

is makes a new hire feel apart of the company. Everyone wants to feel as if they are an important

asset to a company. No one wants to feel as if they are replaceable. Employee orientations

provides comfort and eases potential first day anxieties.

In organizational orientations, the main focus is to make an associate feel as if they are a

great fit to a company. In these types of orientations, corporate culture, company values, and

individual goals are discussed to reiterate what the employee learned in the interview stage. In

this type of orientation, I would bring in management to talk to the employees. They can talk

about their journey with the company, potential promotion opportunities, and employee

expectations. Furthermore, I think it is important to discuss corporate culture and benefits.

Organizational Orientations are not meant to overload the employees with information.Arthur

states, “One of the biggest complaints new employees express is that too much is thrown at them

all at once.” A tour is a great way to take a break from overloading on too much information.

This gives employees a first-hand look at the how the company operates and employee
