These are my class notes from the course Mathematics for Elementary Education I on Day 14. On this day we covered multiplication, the partial products method, common (standard method, sequence of equations, area diagrams, and the distributive property.

These are the answers and examples for mental math strategies including the take-away and distance models, how to add/subtract in different bases using the lattice algorithm, standard algorithm, and partial sums algorithm. I drew pictures for many of the problems to represent my work. I completed this work for the course, Mathematics for Elementary Education I.

Part of the document is written in cursive, and the book that was used is Mathematics for Elementary and Middle School Teachers by Sybilla Beckmann. In this document, I have written story problems and explained the properties used to solve them including the associative and communitive properties or addition. Different strategies that students often use are shown. I also show adding and subtracting in different bases.

This document includes story problems of different kinds such as: take from, add to, put together, take apart, and compare. I wrote story problems to match the math problems given and drew strip diagrams to correspond.
