Target (TGT) Financial Analysis

BUS 627: Financial Statement Analysis

Analysis of the company's financial statements enables investors and shareholders to

understand the financial position and the performance of a company. It provides qualitative and

quantitative data about a business. The income statement is one of the most important financial

,2

statement used by accountants and managers because it helps them understand the profit and loss

of a company during a specific period (Porter & Norton, 2018). The income statement allows

investors, lenders, potential lenders or investors, company management, competitors,

government agencies, labor unions, and others to see the company's ability to manage its

finances and operate at a surplus on profitability levels. Moreover, another critical report of the

financial statements of a company is the statement of cash flows. The announcement of cash

flows is divided into three activities or sections. Also, it measures the liquidity of a company in

terms of increase or decrease. For example, a positive cash flow indicates an increase in the

liquidity of the company, and on the contrary, negative cash flow shows a reduction in liquidity

(Porter & Norton, 2018).

This paper will analyze multiple financial statements for Target Corporation (TGT). It

drivers to the cost of income and the patterns? This paper will provide a throughout analysis of
