ISC3701 ASSIGNMENT 02-792517 STUDENT-65705017 MAY2021
OVERVIEW OF THE LEARNING THEORY
1. Teaching normally takes place in human interaction, rendered by either a
qualified teacher or a knowledgeable person. Giving knowledge to those
who do not know. You stimulate the thinking of the person that is learning.
Example: telling learners how to calculate 1+1=2 and show them how I got
it by using practical examples.
Instruction can take place in any form even if it is not through human
interaction. You can just write directions on any platform to let a person
know how to get to a certain place.
Example: I instruct a learner to walk 5 steps forward from where they are
standing, then procced to the table they reach. From the table they take
the papers on the table and bring them to me. That is an instruction.
2. Good teaching is when the teacher can make a learner acquire knowledge
from them. is when a learner can demonstrate to explain in their own way,
what the teacher was teaching them. And when a learner’s abilities have
been expanded in their learning it means that they have received good-
teaching.
3. Learning to make your own choices or decisions builds a responsible and
independent learner. And when a learner is independent, they become
people with confidence and a confident learner always s partakes in their
learning. And learning encourages a learner to have a set of values they
uphold for the better of their education. And when one person learns well
in the community it means that more people are guaranteed good
teaching. For example, a responsible learner that does their schoolwork,
will know that even in life they will always be responsible for adhering to
their commitments as it is good their wellbeing. And a learner who is
always invested in the learning that takes place around them, will always
have solutions to their problems. Because they are always invested in the
learning of how to deal with problems. Learning also encourages having an
open-mind, and with such a mindset you can never get stuck in any
obstacles.
, 4. When teaching African learners, teachers should take into consideration
their crucial roles in the lives of the learners’ even post-school. Therefore, it
is important as to what perspectives or philosophical orientations we
acknowledge in the learning of the learners. African teaching is the
foundation of the values or abilities or skills that learners naturally have or
adopt because of their backgrounds. And when integrating the basics of
African teaching in the classroom, the learners can easily align with them.
African teaching also encourages learners to know of happens in their
continent and know how to live in the environment. And when they know
of their environment, they will know of their challenges and be encouraged
to come-up with solutions.
5. Aspects of African-based teachings I can integrate in my own teaching
philosophy, theory and practice. I would ensure that I link thinking with
acting upon happenings in the society. I would also integrate the addressing
of injustice of social and environmental. So that the learners are made
aware of the injustices that they suffer or will suffer as the Africans. I can
also ask questions in my classroom. To allow learners to search for
knowledge of their chosen field.
