Corruption impairs administrative capability and impedes social stability and
economic development. Bureaucratic corruption is the utilization of bureaucratic
official positions or titles for personal or private gain, on a collective basis or
individually at the expense of the public good, in violation of established rules and
ethical considerations, through the direct or indirect participation of one or more
public officials whether they be politicians or bureaucrats.



Corruption is an act undertaken with the deliberate intent for personal and or private
rewards against the interests of state. Behaviour may entail theft, embezzlement of
funds, appropriation of state property, nepotism and the granting of favour to
personal acquaintances as well as the abuse of public authority to extract monetary
benefits or other privileges. This type of corruption takes place in transactions
between private individuals or firms and public officials, which result in the misuse of
public office and abuse of public trust.
