1. Introduction
Dual‐earner families can be defined as families in which both partners contribute to
the financial support of their household through working in the labour market, outside
the home. These families are diverse in their family experiences and situations,
including marital status, presence of children, and number of hours worked. Due to
the economic situation many or most families are currently dual-earner families, most
household can not survive without two incomes. The dual income takes care of their
debt and keep up with the moderate way of life. (Cavanaugh and Blanchard-Fields
