Aan het eind van de Middeleeuwen zijn er weinig kinderen die onderwijs

basisschool zouden noemen
Er is echter nog geen leerplicht en lang niet elk kind gaat ook naar
school
Lijfstraffen
Pechvogel: Deze knuffel vogel werd naar je toe gegooid als je niet
opletten. Je moest de pechvogel dan terug brengen naar de leerkracht
en vervolgens kreeg je een tik op je vingers.
Plak: Hiermee kregen kinderen een klap op hun vingers.
1820 afschaffing van de lijfstraffen
Tot ca. 1800 waren er nog weinig echte schoolgebouwen
Vaak werd er les gegeven op zolders of in schuren, het was net welke
ruimte er beschikbaar was.
Lang niet voor alle leerlingen waren er stoelen of bankjes.
Kinderen lazen hun lesjes hardop voor om ze uit het hoofd te leren.
