Hoofstuk 31 - Iets ongesê
Plank kan nie glo dat Xander hulle gelos het nie. Greg stel voor dat
hulle gaan slaap sodat hulle helder kan dink. Oppad na hulle hotel
toe, koop die seuns Dürüm by ‘n kosstalletjie om te eet en dun
wafels.
Greg raak wakker in die middel van die nag. Plank is al klaar wakker
en hy het simit - ‘n tipe soetbrood - gaan koop. Die seuns kyk na die
pragtige uitsig van die stad en praat oor die tipe vrouens wie hulle
eendag wil trou.
Daardie oggend met ‘n ontbyt in die eetkamer van tamatie, wors en
simit, vertel Greg vir Plank dat hy nogsteeds die Baker wil opspoor. Xander verskyn langs hulle.
Ayla het hom oortuig om vir Greg tog te help en hy vertrou haar. Greg is verlig.
Chapter 31 - Something unsaid
Plank can’t believe that Xander left them. Greg suggests that they get some sleep to think better.
On their way to the hotel, the boys buy Dürüm to eat at a food stall and thin waffles.
Greg wakes up in the middle of the night. Plank is already awake and he bought simit - a type of
sweet bread. The boys look at the beautiful sight of the city and talk about what kind of woman
they want to marry one day.
That morning at breakfast of tomato, sausage and simit in the dining hall, Greg tells Plank that
he still wants to find the Baker. Xander appears beside them. Ayla convinced him to still help
Greg and he trusts her. Greg is relieved.

Hoofstuk 32 - Ayla
Xander lei Plank en Greg na sy huis in die
Balat-distrik. Greg verwonder hom aan die
kleurvolle huise, geure en klanke. Xander
gee hulle ‘n toer van sy huis. Daar is min
meubels, maar dit lyk gemaklik. Daar is ‘n
hoofslaapkamer, badkamer, klein kombuis,
terras, sitkamer en solderkamer. Die uitsig
is pragtig: dis die Haliç, die Goue Horing,
waarop bote in die water dryf. Ayla kom
groet hulle in Turks. Sy praat Afrikaans omdat haar pa van Suid Afrika is en haar ma is Turks.
Hulle is albei deel van Doctors Without Borders. Sy weet alles van Greg en Plank af.
Chapter 32 - Ayla
Xanders leads Plank and Greg to his house in the Balat district. Greg wonders at the colourful
houses, smells and sounds. Xander gives them a tour of his house. There is little furniture, but it
looks comfortable. There is a master bedroom, bathroom, small kitchen, terrace, lounge and
attic. The view is beautiful: it’s the Haliç, the Golden Horn, where boats float in the water. Ayla
comes out to greet them in Turkish. She speaks Afrikaans since her dad comes from South
Africa and her mom is Turkish. Both her parents are part of Doctors Without Borders. She knows
everything about Greg and Plank.
