The behavioural and human relations approach developed due to the unfair treatment of employees
and it addresses the inhuman view of the classical approach .It based its focus on the needs of the
employee. Mary Parker ,Elton Mayo and Douglas McGregor made important contributions to this
approach .This approach began in the 1930s and its based on the motivation of workers and the
contributors of this approach believe that the establishment of organizational goals and objectives
and the productivity of the organization is also dependent on the relationship and interpersonal
skills employees have with each other and management .Mary Parker Follet argued and believes
that employees should have a say and a contribution in the job analysis as they know more about
their own job more than management .This approach plays fundamental role in the business
moving forward and achieving its main goals by ensuring that the well-being of employees is taken
care of in order for productivity to improve
The Behavioural and human relations approach is most suitable as it ensures that employees are
treat fairly and this approaches sees workers as human beings not as “ machines” .It helps to build
interpersonal skills in the workplace and helps to increase staff morale and motivation as that
contributes to an increase in the productivity which then in turn enables the goals and objectives of
business to be achieved a lot faster which leads to the business growing .It doesn’t view a worker
just based on their work but it appeals to the needs such as their attitude ,values and learning
motivation and how the worker feels. It is most suitable as it helps employees feel that their
opinions ,needs and feelings matter in the workplace and that they are appreciated and valued not
just because of their job and work and this leads to a worker being motivated to do more and push
themselves to do well in their own work and help the organizational achieve its goals and objectives
because they are seen as human beings and not machines and that their well-being and needs are
seen as a priority and its of importance.
