Class Length: 10 weeks
For every 1 hour in a theory class, it is expected that students complete 2–3 hours of study in preparation for class. For
this course, it is expected that a minimum of 10–15 hours of study outside of class is completed each week. Please check your Student Portal for specific class meeting times, dates, and locations.
In some courses, there is a required online Zoom session in week 10. Please see course specifics below.

This course is the third in the series of medical–surgical nursing courses and provides the theoretical perspective on care of acute and critically ill persons across the life span and promotes wellness in culturally diverse populations.

Course Learning Outcomes
On conclusion of the course, in order to provide nursing care to promote wellness in culturally diverse populations, the student will be able to:
1.Analyze pathophysiological and pharmacological concepts to identify key problems and to prioritize care for clients who have complex health care needs.
2.Evaluate assessment data using critical/clinical reasoning skills to make clinical judgments for clients who have complex multi- system health care needs.
3.Apply integrated client care technologies, information systems, Electronic Health Record (EHR), and communication devices, to facilitate interprofessional collaboration to advocate for the client’s health care needs.
4.Evaluate the pharmacologic, nutritional, developmental, and teaching needs of the critically ill client with alterations in health. Program Learning Outcomes
