Chapter 1: Story of the Door
● Utterson & Enfield are walking & Enfield tells Utterson about Hyde's trampling of
the little girl
Chapter 2: Search for Mr Hyde
● Utterson looks over Jekyll's will then is concerned Hyde is blackmailing Jekyll
● Utterson visits Lanyon & discovers he is no longer friends with Jekyll
● Utterson tries to find Hyde 'if he shall be Mr Hyde, I shall be Mr Seek' & meets
him
● Utterson visits Jekyll but he isn't home so Utterson goes home concerned about
Jekyll
Chapter 3: Dr Jekyll was quite at Ease
● Dinner party at Jekyll's house
● Utterson asks Jekyll about Hyde & Jekyll says 'he can be rid of Mr Hyde the
moment he chooses'
● Jekyll asks Utterson to look after Hyde when Jekyll is gone & he agrees
Chapter 4: The Carew Murder Case
● Hyde murders Sir Danvers Carew violently
● Carew was only carrying a letter addressed to his lawyer (Utterson) & it's
delivered to Utterson
● Utterson discovers it was Hyde who killed him & they visit Hyde's house (with
police)
Chapter 5: Incident of the Letter
● Utterson visits Jekyll & he looks very sick & says he is 'done with Hyde in this
world' & confirms Utterson's belief Hyde is attempting to harm Jekyll
● Utterson goes home & drinks then asks Guest (handwriting expert) to look at
Hyde's writing & Guest discovers it's the same as Jekyll's 'only differently sloped'
Chapter 6: Remarkable Incident of Dr Lanyon
● Utterson is concerned about Jekyll's seclusion & visits Lanyon only to find him
looking very sick (close to death) & he refuses to talk about Jekyll
● Lanyon dies & Utterson finds a letter addressed to him by Lanyon 'not to be
opened till the death or disappearance of Dr Henry Jekyll' & out of respect/loyalty
Utterson doesn't open it
Chapter 7: Incident at the Window
● Enfield & Utterson are walking & come across Jekyll at his window
