Almodóvar usa la cocina como una característica importante de la película, ya
que donde se lleva a cabo la mayor parte de la acción y donde la escena de la
muerte es. Esto es muy importante porque el director está destacando cómo las
mujeres españolas pasan mucho tiempo en la cocina de la cocina y cómo las
mujeres españolas siempre están cocinando comida, ya sea para los huéspedes o
para su familia. Además Almodóvar usa la mancha como escenario de la
película porque es importante para él porque es donde vivía cuando era un niño.
El pueblo es especial porque tienen una fuerte creencia en la celebración de la
muerte, como la limpieza de las tumbas.
Las mujeres están vestidas de colores brillantes como el rojo contra el contraste
de los negros y grises de las lápidas. Incluso los cubos, los cepillos de fregado y

Otra característica principal es la comida, cuando la madre de Raimunda muere,
el tema principal de la conversación es la comida, ignorando completamente la
evidente presencia de la muerte. Especialmente cuando otras mujeres de su
barrio ayudan a Raimunda con ingredientes, estableciendo tanto la comida
como la cocina como el dominio femenino y un mundo de solidaridad
femenina. Esto pone de relieve este fuerte vínculo entre la mujer y la
alimentación, que son elementos cruciales de la cultura española.
