1.1 soul.(often referred to simply as soul) is a popular music genre that originated in the African American
community in the United States in the 1950s and early 1960s.
It combines elements of African - American gospel music, rhythm and blues and jazz Soul music

Pop music is a genre of popular music that originated in its modern forms in the US and the UK
during the mid-1950s. The terms popular music and pop music are often used interchangeably,
although the former describes all music that is popular and includes many diverse subgenres and
styles.

Whether its rap, soul, pop or R&B, Motown lives on all over the place. British soul artist, Amy
Winehouse, for example, sampled Motown song "Ain't no Mountain High Enough" for one of her
biggest hits, "Tears dry on their own".
1.2 pop.

typically played under pop-influenced melodies and vocal styles with lighthearted lyrical
