know? If the story took place somewhere else or in a

The history described by Gabriel García Marquez occurred in a
very small town, it means, far away of cities and facilities,
according with the story. If the story took place somewhere else or
in a different time it could occur in the small village or town too,
because the context focusses on the facility of spread a rumor,
that is easier in a small town or village, where all the neighbors
meet to people that live there and the lifestyle is very simple and
people share moments in the day.
2. What incident, problem, conflict, or situation does the
author use to get the story started?
The author uses the old lady´s hunch about something very
serious is going to happen in that town. The story´s conflict is
Person vs Unknown: There is a conflict in the neighbors because
they begin to have doubt about the future and the possibility to
have serious problem in the town. For this reason, it comes to a
tension moment and people make a wrong decision.
