1.1 Define the terms cytogenetics and embryology. (2)
Cytogenetics is a branch of genetics that specifically focuses on the study of

behavior of chromosomes to understand how genes are inherited and expressed.

as aneuploidy (abnormal chromosome number) or chromosomal rearrangements.
On the other hand, embryology is the study of the development of embryos from
fertilization to the formation of a complete organism. It encompasses the processes
of cell division, cell differentiation, tissue formation, and organogenesis.
Embryologists investigate the molecular, cellular, and environmental factors that
influence embryonic development. They seek to understand the genetic and
epigenetic mechanisms that guide the specialization of cells and their spatial
organization to create complex multicellular structures.
