1.1. Make use of the facts in this case study, determine whether the dismissals in question were fair
or not from a substantive point of view. [6 marks]

report on what would constitute a correct procedure for dismissing employees. Juxtapose the

1.3. With reference to the last paragraph of the case study, the university’s management allege that
the strike is an unprotected one. Advise the union on the consequences of its conduct. [10 marks]
