• Include images, that you will use in class, of the textiles chosen, which
tribe they represent and why they were chosen as part of preparing

Facilitating the Lesson on African Textiles for Heritage Day Showcase
Objective
To educate learners on the rich cultural heritage of African textiles by
evaluating and discussing fabrics from different tribes, focusing on the
elements of art and principles of design.
Lesson Plan
1. Introduction (10 minutes)
o Begin with a brief introduction to Heritage Day and its
significance.
o Explain the importance of textiles in African culture and how
they represent different tribes and traditions.
2. Presentation on African Textiles (20 minutes)
o Show images of various African textiles.
o Provide a brief history of each fabric, including which tribe it
