1.3 The concepts ‘mainstreaming or integration and inclusion’ are usually used
interchangeably, but they differ in various aspects (Department of Education
2001). Write a short paragraph to outline the differences between the two concepts.

1.4 According to Bronfenbrenner's bioecological theory, barriers to learning and
development can exist across various systems influencing a learner, rather than
solely within the learner themselves (Mkhuma 2018:3). Based on this theory,
explore the potential barriers to learning for a Grade 7 learner struggling with
reading and writing through the lens of Bronfenbrenner's five systems. [10]
1.5 Developing effective strategies to support learners with diverse needs can be
hampered by various factors within schools across different regions of the world.
Drawing from Kinuthia (2022), outline some of these drawbacks with a specific
focus on North, West, East, Central and Southern Africa. [5]
