construction of race refers to the process by which people define a group as a
race based on their physical characteristics, as well as historical, cultural and
economic factors. Discuss this statement by referring to race as social
construct and linking race to how functionalists, conflict theorists and symbolic
interactionists view the racial issue in the societal context. Structure your
essay as follows: 1. Introduction: Introduce what you intend to discuss in the
essay, and define your key terms. (10) 2. Body of the essay, in which you deal
with the following: • The functionalist’s view of race (10) • The conflict
theorist’s view of race (10) • The symbolic interactionist’s view of race (10) 3.
