Hardin's argument - ANSWER✔✔ As commoners are self-interested, rational and
atomistic actors, they do not rely on fellow commoners. This leads to over-
exploitation of the open, common resource. They are basically stuck in a
prisoners' dilemma (actors acting on their own self interest leads to less optimal
results). Tragedy of the Commons. This is all a metaphor for the modern resource
problems.

interested individuals tend to use resources beyond maximum sustainable yield.
Example of sheep:
'Picture a pasture open to all..', commoners are free to graze cattle on open
pasture.
Very little sheep -> high quality and high revenue
Add too many sheep -> quality will go down, less revenue per sheep
But they will only stop adding sheep when the costs will be higher than the
revenue.
