There are 52 sovereign states and territories where English is an official
language. Several of these nations, like New Zealand, Canada, India, Ireland,
and the Philippines, use English as an official language but not the sole
official language.

The status of English as a country’s official language does not necessarily
correlate with the number of English speakers in that country,

Now we are going to talk about the nations where English is spoken by most
or all the population. These nations are the United Kingdom, the United
States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the Irish Republic.

Firstly, I am going to talk about the United Kingdom. Great Britain comprises 4
countries: England, Wales, Scotland and North Ireland.
England is the most populated country. It is bordered to the north by Scotland
and to the west by Wales.
Scotland is a country that is about half the size of England. The capital is
Edinburgh. The majority of the population is based around the cities of
Edinburgh, Glasgow and Dundee.
Wales is situated in the peninsula of Great Britain. It is bordered by England to
the east, the Bristol Channel to the south, and the Irish Sea to the west and
north.
Ireland is situated in northwest Europe in the north Atlantic Ocean, west of
Great Britain. As a form of government, the Queen is the head of the state, but
she is a constitutional monarch, that is, she rules through parliament. With
respect to education, it is compulsory for students aged 5 to 16. About 90%of
students go to State schools, which are run by the local education authorities.
