Finding Your Purpose
Course: CWV-301
Date: April 4th, 2021
The concept mission Dei is an Italian phrase that means the mission of God. According to
Pasley (2021), the mission of God is to restore a world broken by sin, and this mission
flows out of his character by means through the doctrine of the triune. God the Father is
the source of all mission and his love should be both the motivation for and defining
characteristic of the mission, God the Son who was incarnated, died, and resurrected are
both the message of and model for the mission. Finally, God, the Holy Spirit is the
strength, guidance and inspiration are means through which the mission should be carried
out with openness and humility.
Buechner theorize that finding your purpose should be through meaningful work. As
explained by Buechner, if someone enjoys their work, but it is meaningless, then that
person probably has not found their purpose in life (Pasley, 2020). Finding my purpose is
to know what I am passionate about and what I enjoy doing. Being able to use my gifts and
talents to create more meaning for myself and others and at the end of the day it feels
fulfilling.
Everyone who is born into this world and do not know what to live for and how should
they live their lives (purpose). I believe this is where the Bible proclamation about creation
addresses such concern. According to Genesis 1: 26 – 28, among all of God’s creation
mankind was created in the image and likeness of God to which he bestowed his first
blessing, fruitfulness, to multiply and fill the earth and govern it (NIV). This is letting
mankind know that work is not a curse but also a blessing from God. We should work to
take care of the earth, each other, and God’s other creations (animals, plants, etc.). Because
it is through our work that we are supposed to display God’s greatness to demonstrate that
everything we do we are doing it with righteousness for the glory of God.
God’s two greatest commandments is to love him and to love your neighbor as yourself .To
love God means we should look towards strengthening and deepening our faith in him,
establishing a relationship with him if we have not already done so. Both at work and in
our daily lives we can show our love to God by thanking him for everything and let him
know we appreciate his blessings through prayers. We should love our neighbors as
ourselves is a way to inspire a cycle of giving which create a strong community both
