Vocational A friend has heard that you are working as a research assistant and has asked if you
Scenario could assist them in with some market research. Your friend is interested in setting up a
mobile coffee stall business. However, your friend knows that there is already a lot of
competition in the local area including form the big name high street coffee chains. Your
friend wants to make sure that they stand out from the competition to help ensure a
success. They have asked if you can help by planning and undertaking market research
and analyzing the results.

Task 1 You must submit the plan detailing the research methods which should P2 ,P3
include secondary research that relate to your objectives and primary market
research with details of the sample size
The first part of your task is to produce a market research plan. In your plan
you should:
● define the problem and set out your research objectives
● set out a budget for the market research
● determine the data that is to be collected and the methods that you
plan to use including at least two types of secondary research and two
types of primary research
● produce a primary pilot questionnaire and pilot sampling plan
Once you have completed your market research plan you will need to
undertake secondary research. This should include gathering of any research
data that already exists and relates to your objectives.

This should be a word document not less than 1000 words

Task 2 Next, you will carry out your pilot research to collect sample data/findings
which you will need to include your pilot research findings as an appendix to
your work. M2
You will then need to write a report in which you evaluate the findings of your
primary research and recommend changes that should be made to the final
market research activity. In your evaluation you should think about:
● the appropriateness of the methods you have used
● the types and quality of data you have collected
● the effectiveness of your sampling plan
