repeated under wide variety of circumstances
How science explains and predicts:
inductive generalization (independant observation)
1. to PREDICT a fact is to find a law which the fact can be derived (deduced as a
consequence of a law of nature)
2. to EXPLAIN is to identify a law under which the fact falls
