DE MENSTRUELE CYCLUS
Ongeveer 400 cycli tot aan de menopauze! Elke cyclus is een voorbereiding op een mogelijke zwangerschap.
(1) Ovariële cyclus
a. Ontwikkeling van follikels om eicel vrij te zetten bij ovulatie
b. Speelt zich af in de eierstokken
i. Medulla (merg) : binnenste laag rijk aan bloevaten
ii. Cortex (schors) : buitenste laag met follikels in verschillende stadia van ontwikkeling
(2) Endometrium cyclus
a. Voorbereiding baarmoeder op mogelijke implantatie van een bevruchte eicel
b. Cycli van opbouw en afbraak
Onderbreking menstruele cyclus door zwangerschap of door anticonceptiepil
