Present continuous:
Gebruik:
- Wanneer een persoon, dier of ding NU iets doet.
- Wanneer iets is gestart in het verleden en het nog niet afgelopen is.
- Wanneer iets gebeurt in de nabije toekomst (de toekomst die dichtbij is)
Vorm: am/is/are +ww + -ing
Voorbeeld:
- I am playing the guitar.
- They are shopping.
- He is driving at this moment.
Signaalwoorden:
now- right now- at this moment- at the moment- currently- as we speak- at present- this afternoon
Present simple:
Gebruik:
- Bij feiten
- Bij gewoontes
- dingen die je altijd/nooit/regelmatig doet
Voorbeelden:
- Water boils at 100 degrees Celsius.
- Sophie and Jason play the guitar together.
- I always walk to school.
Bij vragen en ontkenningen gebruik je do of does + hele werkwoord.
Voorbeeld: Does he often play football?

Signaalwoorden:

Gebruik:
- Wanneer iets in het verleden heeft plaats gevonden
- Bij een stelling over het verleden
- Bij twee of meer acties die elkaar opvolgen gebruik je voor beide de past stimple
Vorm:
1. Bij regelmatige werkwoorden -ed
2. Onregelmatige werkwoorden hebben een eigen vorm
Bij vragen of ontkenning gebruik je het hulpwerkwoord did. Je krijgt geen -ed achter het
werkwoord.
Voorbeelden:
- We walked to school yesterday.
- Aila was a beautifull baby.
- Melanie stood up, walked to the door and left.
- Senna didn’t walk to school yesterday/ Did Senna walk to school yesterday?
Signaalwoorden:
