Ethics in Marketing
Have you ever wondered why your phone or computer brings up advertising for things
before you know you are even looking for them or you start receiving product samples/coupons
in the mail? There lays a logical explanation for this and it is very worrisome in many ways’
privacy is a big one, heck Google will know when you are pregnant before you do base on your
search history. I recently watch a great documentary on Netflix called the “The Social Delemia”
and within this watch it will be able to remove some of the wool from many peoples eyes
reflecting on many of the driving factors based upon our social media preferences to our web
surfing. Many don’t question ethics or legal concerns when it comes to this type of marketing as
it can accomplish many things.

In preparing for this reflection I read the following article “Social Media Research Raises
Privacy and Ethics Issues” Sharon Jayson USA Today March 12,2014. Within this article it goes
to discuss the footprints we leave within the cyber world with our likes, comments, searches, and
so on. The concern comes from many companies such as Google, Facebook, and Twitter
