Formal communication
CAFOD places meetings with their stakeholders where they discuss their new
services or projects that will be taking place. An advantage of this communication
method is, it’s a face to face communication. This enables communication to be
easier and more efficient as there will be no misunderstandings and it would allow
the stakeholders to discuss any relevant topics or questions. Also this method
allows the stakeholders to pitch at the same time therefore more ideas would be
shared and this would help the business meet their aims and objectives. A
disadvantage of this method is that it is very time consuming and also meetings
require a number of people to come together at the same time and place which
most times is an issue due to the stakeholder’s busy schedule. Also meetings are
expensive to arrange and they require a place, paper work and prior
communication therefore this would increase the cost of the business resulting in
a decrease in the business profit.

This method could be improved by making it more organised such as picking the
best date when members can attend the meeting. Overall, this is an effective
method as the stakeholders would have good knowledge about the business
projects. The success of this method depends on if the stakeholders are able
attend the meetings.

CAFOD owns their personal website1 which anyone can access from anywhere;
this allows them to receive worldwide donations due to their donation option on
their website. The websites also help them to create awareness and prove that

they will be able to receive help from different countries such as volunteering,
donations or creating awareness. This is a good form of communication as it
allows customers to interact with the organisation; the websites allow people to
know what the CAFOD organisation represents and what activities they hold
such as prayers, news and projects. Their website is beneficial as it allows society
to see CAFOD’s vision and aim through images and news therefore allowing
volunteers to join so they can help the organisation to meet their aims and
objectives. Their website also helps to show how ethical their organisation is
creating a good organisation image. An advantage of this method is its less costly
and it allows society to get involved which would benefit CAFOD as they would
receive more help and get work done quickly. A disadvantage of this method is it
is hard to find information that an individual requires; this may cause a decrease in
volunteers and help provided.

Overall this method could be improved by updating the website and making
information easier to find. Furthermore, this is a good method as it is convenient
for society therefore they would be satisfying them due to the easy access.
However, the success of this method depends on if they receive enough revenue,
so they can use the extra money to update the website. Also the efficiency of this
method depends on how many people have the internet to access the website or
how many people know how to operate technology.

CAFOD sends letters to their shareholders based on any relevant information
such as donations, volunteering or any business information such as for
professional correspondence between individuals. This method is useful as it
explains any relevant information. This method is also beneficial as it provides
written proof and it’s good for people who don’t have the internet facilities or
don’t know how to access the internet. However, letters do have disadvantages
such as there can be a possibility of miscommunication or there might be extra
questions to be asked, the letter may get lost in the post or by the individual
which may negatively impact the business as it may delay work. Furthermore,
writing letters is very time consuming and the company will have to pay for
