Ethics Clinical Nurse Specialist have an expertise in moral and ethical decision-making skills. The expertise of a Clinical Nurse Specialist is also to encourage and enable public health nurses on matters of *ethical
concerns. The practice of CNS’s is based and founded on the provisions of the Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements (Fulton, Lyon & Goudreau, 2014). CNS’s advocate for complete truth
telling and are strong for both public health nurses and clients.
CNSs are also involved in
matters of community andNurse Educators are the gatekeepers of the nurses in practice ethical codes of conduct for both nurses and nursing students in practice. The Nurse Educator’s specific duty mandates that they ensure that both the students and nurses uphold
the ethical standards and codes in their practice (DeNizco & Baker, 2014).
The Nurse Educator makes decisions, teaches and directs students and nurses on
*evidence-based practices for inspiration and the
implementation of
all codes of conduct acrossSimilarities: Both are custodians of the Nurses Code of Conduct in the practice and education
of nursing.

Education Any advanced nurse practitioner
must obtain and hold a MS (Master of Science) in Nursing.
However, a nurse may also become a CNS if their education has had
other graduate level program preparation which
could be deemed as relevant to a CNS role. In order to this though any
of the above qualifications must have the express authorization of the ACEN which is
the (Accreditation
Commission for Education in Nursing) or from the CCNE which is
the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education). (DeNizco & Baker,
2014).The basic requirement for Nurse Education is
to be certified as an RN as well as to hold a master’s
degree in Nursing.
However, it is important to note that some, but not
all universities may require a degree on the doctoral level in order to be able to teach.
It is also necessary that they hold a specialized certification in their area of practice and for which they desire
to educate.Similarities: Both disciplines must have an RN certification as well as hold a master’s level degree from an accredited university.
Differences: Nurse educators do not have
to have the 500 hours
of practicum experience as their role is expressly in the
role of education not in the practice itself.
