Sphesihle emotionally traumatized, impacting his concentration and
motivation.
d) Physical Fatigue: Sphesihle's responsibilities at home, including collecting
water and helping with household chores, leave him physically exhausted,
which affects his ability to focus and stay alert in class.
e) Lack of Academic Support: Sphesihle lacks proper documentation to
receive government grants, leading to financial strain. Additionally, there
is no one to help him with his homework or monitor his academic progress,
contributing to his poor performance.

As a foundation phase teacher, discuss the strategies that you will
employ to accommodate and support Sphesihle in each barrier you have
identified above. (20)
Language Support: I will provide Sphesihle with additional language support
through bilingual resources and peer tutoring. Visual aids, simplified language,
and repetitive instructions can help bridge the gap. Engaging him in language
games and activities can also enhance his comprehension and
communication skills.
Addressing Visual Impairment: To address Sphesihle's visual impairment, I
will move him to the front of the class where he can see the board clearly. I
will also arrange for a vision screening to identify his needs and ensure he
receives appropriate glasses or other necessary treatments.
Emotional and Psychological Support: Recognizing Sphesihle's emotional
trauma, I will create a supportive and nurturing classroom environment. I will
refer him to the school counselor for regular sessions and incorporate social-
emotional learning activities to help him express and manage his feelings.
Building a trusting relationship with him is crucial.
