Arachne:
Arachne was a talented weaver, a lot of people were talking about her, how
amazing she was. Arachne was believing the people and became a little bit
arrogant, and said: ‘my talent is my personality and does not come from the
gods’. Athena (a god) heard that and she changed her shape into a old woman,
Athena started a discussion and Arachne laughed at the old woman without
knowing it was a god. Athena transformed back into a god and Arachne was
shocked. Athena started a challenge with Arachne, they both are going to wave
and see if its from the gods or from Arachne itself. Arachne ‘won’ and Athena
was mad. She changed Arachne in a spider as a souvenir from the weavers.
Savitri:
Savitri needed to marry someone, she travelled all over the world. Eventually
she met a guy named: Satyavan, they talked for hours and she knew that she
loved him. Savitri took Satyavan home and everyone was exciting, till Satyavan
told everyone that there was a prophecy about him, he was gonna die in a year.
The only way to make Satyavan alive again was to go visit Yamraj (the god of
the death) and ask it. She did and after days of begging Yamraj finally agreed
and he maked Satyavan alive. They lived a happy after aver.
Book of the dead:
At first there is a papyrusrol (book of the dead) designed to help people attain
immortality. Those rols were made for Pharaohs but the Egyptians believed that
also regular people could reach the afterlife. If you die, your body gets
mummified by a team of priests and all the organs are getting removed except
the heart, the heart gets protected by a blue bug you need in the afterlife. When
you are in the afterlife, you have to pass by the horrible monsters and if you
survived that, you have to get judged by 42 accessor gods. The most important
thing is to pass the weight task. You need to weight your heart against the
feather of Anubis, if your heart is heavier than the feather you don’t pass. There
is a god of the dead, he need to gives the final permission. When you come in
the afterlife there is no anger, no sadness and no pain, but you need to work by
the fields, a shabti doll that is placed in your belly helps you with that.
