Introduction

There are numerous ethical issues with organ transplants, especially when it comes to the

funding is by the Government, which is owned by Medicare. Organ transplant is the

involvement of removing one individual body organ to the body part of a recipient. With

organ donations, many patient’s lives have been saved, simply because of this procedure

being available. When it comes to the funding from Medicare, organ transplants, there is a

large concern from many Americans regarding unethical practices. This involves them on the

decision of who will actually benefits from the resources in which the funding comes from.

Ultimately, one of the ultimate solutions to the problem, is the measures progenitive

implementation. However, this leads to a concern of organ failure, but there are some short

term solutions that can actually minimize ethical concerns, in the US, which surround organ

transplants. We will discuss and evaluate some of the ethical issues concerns when it comes

to the Medicare funding for organ transplants, there will be some suggestions to the problem,

and there will be some recommendations offered. (Forsythe, 2012).

Background

, The American health care system has been under scrutiny when it comes to unfairness to the

citizen on health care services distribution. The contribution to this is because of the

inadequate failure from the government when it comes to funding for healthcare. While the

American population continue to increase when it comes to the need for health services, the

government, themselves, are not able to keep up, even though there is many accusations of

healthcare delivery inequality. When it comes to the middle class citizens, most of them

can’t afford the necessary medical treatment, such organ transplants or dialysis. If, only,

ethical practices were adhered to when it come to the medical service deliver, the then

number of deaths in America from patient with curable illness would decrease. However, it

should definitely be noted, when it comes to the demands of health care, the availability to

Americans for expertise and machinery has been exceeded. Having a shortage, for example,

on dialysis machines caused covered patients under Medicare suffer because of it being an

inadequate tool. Therefore, the struggling families, that would raise money for their loved

ones for dialysis treatment, saw this as a great relief for organ transplant. (Lally & Schultz,

2006).

Increasing Need For Organ Transplant

There has been extremely high demand when it comes to organ transplant, and this is what

caused the government to have Medicare become more involved. This was in order to offer

this particular resource to all patients that are

either definitely in need or are well deserving. During the time of the 1960’s, the

government was ensuring that every patient incapable of meeting expenses for the organ

transplant, should be allowed access to the Medicare resource that was available. However,

there is an increase when it come to the demand of organ transplants over the years. There

has been many strategies in place which has now caused a big gap of ensuring patients a fair

distribution being provided when it comes to this particular resource. Because of this, it has
