My education has been affected ever since I was young, with each incident that occured my
education seemed less important in my life. The incidents started off small such as changing
schools so frequently it became hard to follow the curriculum, or having a parent who did not
encourage or stress the importance of having an education for my future. It seemed like it
didnt take long for the issues to grow into larger issues that again I could not prevent, like my
moms boyfriend molesting me, running away from home which both lead me to miss school. I
then became a mom at 17 years old, by the time I turned 23 I was having my 3rd child. School
was never an escape for me, seeing as something always prevented me from attending.
As a child having the security of being stable, the comfort of going to school with familiar
faces was something I never had. My mom moved us not only to different school districts, but
moved
us from state to state, and even out of the country once. Our moves happen so much, that some
school years I attended multiple schools in a school year. I had a hard time keeping up with the
curriculum that each new school was teaching, which caused me to have a hard time retaining
information. The stress of being the new kid, walking into unfamiliar territory cause me to turn
within, afraid to ask questions. Teachers never focused on me, but kept up with the kids who
they saw year after year. When you are young like that it is hard to focus on what was important,
and that was being educated.
