Power Distance Index
How higher the index the more Power Distance there is in a country

Difference between High power distance and Low power distance:
The difference between high and low power distance is that in a High power distance country
not everybody the same amount of power has and you need to be extremely polite to people
with a higher status than you. You do not go in discussion with other people and you don’t
speak what’s on your mind; when you do you do it in a very indirect way.
In an Low power distance country people have the same amount of power and everybody is
equal, so you can go in discussion with your teacher and your parents and it can in a direct
way. You can speak your mind and you don’t need to ask if you can ask a question.

 Poland
 Czech Republic
 Slovakia

, Individualism and Collectivism
Difference between individualism and collectivism:
The difference between these two is that by individualism people are responsible for
themselves and there nuclear and direct family. The children who live in this kind of society
grow up in small family’s with one or both parents and one or two siblings. In this society do
you learn to be I-oriented and it is important to learn to be independent. You need to speak
your mind because these people like it when you are honest and open. They prefer a direct,
low context communication.
By collectivism children grow up in large families, including grandparents or other family
members. You are almost never alone. By this type of society the people are We-oriented
and is being a responsible member of a family very important. You need to be independent
but also taking care for other group members. Saying no is rude in this type of society even
as criticizing and confronting. If you want to say something like this you need to do that
without hurting someone’s feelings.
