1. Students are at a lower level so the understanding or the language used
to explain the concepts may be challenging.
• Solution: I will diligently plan what language to use during the lesson.
2. Students may revert to their native language when they are struggling.
• Solution: I will encourage them to use English.
3. Students may find it difficult to differentiate when to use the first and the
other conditionals. The syntactic differences between English, French,
and Arabic languages.
Length of Lesson: 60 mins Anticipated Problems: Example: In French, the sentence form/structure is the same, but the
function is not the same as in English.
This could be challenging for the students to understand why present
perfect is used rather than past simple.
• Solution: I will explain that the difference is about probability.
Use examples to explain, concept check questions, and controlled
practice questions (Turner, 2023).
4. During the verbal practice (dialog) the application of different tenses will
be required, past simple and present perfect, etc.
, • Solution: Immediate correction will be made for simple errors based
on the rules covered in the board plan, for more complex errors,
notes will be taken and will be covered and thoroughly explained in
next week’s lesson.
5. Students may find it challenging to decide when to use which verb choice.
Why do we say “I’ve been to Paris vs. I go to Paris.”
In Arabic Verb to be does not appear at all in the present time frame in the
Arabic language (Arabic Language Online, 2023).
• Solution: The meaning between the two verbs needs to be thoroughly
explained.
6. Auxiliary verbs may be challenging for the student to grasp.
• Solution: I will avoid using auxiliary verbs in my model sentences
during the presentation stage.
7. The use of ever is variable – it is frequently used in questions and
negative form. Going into too much detail with these rules may overload
the students and deter them from the lesson objectives.
• Solution: I will use them correctly in my examples and briefly explain
that it implies “at any time.”
8. I may accidentally present other functions of the present perfect tense.
• Solution: Keep the lesson simple and always refer to the present
perfect for general experiences.
9. The class may be boring as I do need to explain a few things.
• Solution: Run an interactive class and use materials and examples
that the students can relate to.
• Worksheet A – Copy for each student
1 x Controlled practice - Individual activity.
1 x Controlled practice - Group activity.
Number of Students: 12 Materials: 1 x Small softball for the Freer practice – Class game activity.
