There are no doubts that during the year of study at West Coast University we were able
to enhance our theoretical knowledge when it comes to nursing procedure. Even so, one of the
gaps which I thought of was the lack of too much practical experience. In order to do so, once I
finish with my graduation I plan on attending a few volunteer hours at the Emergency
department which will help me put in practice what we were taught during the last years. I am
planning on doing this by November 2019, as during that period I will also start focusing more
on my NCLEX exam and this will help me learn some of the notions even faster. I was able to
retrieve all the information which I require online. For example, the Baptist Health Hospital
offers volunteer support. Based on their program, the volunteers will be able to learn new skills
and enhance the ones they already know, they will be able to add to the quality of the care
services provider to the patients and increase their circle of friends (Baptist Health,2019). The
biggest advantage is that volunteering doesn't require fix hour which allows us to get free time to
learn for the NCLEX exam and for the other projects we have in mind. The Baptist Health
Hospital offers daytime, weekend and even evening hours for those who are interested. Another
element which interests me and which I hope to be able to enhance during my volunteer hours
are communication skills such as active listening skills. I am sure I will be able to do this by
talking with more and more patients and by retrieving some researches which focused on the
elements which are best to improve this weakness.
